Global Design Challenge
In my Summer 2014 course, Global Design Challenge, students pitched ideas for a sustainability-based business to classmates to vote so that four projects could move towards development in a team setting. The WaterSlide team—Craig Johnson, Jessica Papa, and me—developed my initial idea of a mobile bacterial monitoring station intended to improve water quality through improved data sharing and problem awareness into a mobile application and data system using the Lean Startup method and LaunchPad Central. By conducting 57 customer interviews, the team honed the idea down to a minimally viable product designed to enhance existing bacterial sampling methods and created wireframe mockups of the app/web database and producing a promotional video as part of a grant application.
